Applying to the Cancer Biology Program

Students should have a B.A. or B.S. degree, usually with a major in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, molecular biology, or a related area, and with a grade-point average of at least 3.0 (B). A student's background should include basic courses in these areas as well as several advanced courses from among chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, physiology, and molecular biology. Prior research experience is highly desirable. Students must also fulfill the Graduate School Minimum Requirements.

All applicants must take the general Graduate Record Examination. The subject test in biology, or chemistry, or biochemistry, cell and molecular biology is recommended.

New students generally enter the graduate program in the Fall semester, although applications for the Spring and Summer semesters may be considered if openings exist. The application deadline is January 1 of the academic year preceding entrance.
