Student Groups
McArdle students participate in many national and local professional societies and groups, such as the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Sigma Xi (an organization dedicated to the encouragement of research in the pure and applied natural sciences), Sigma Delta Epsilon (Graduate Women in Science), and TLE (Teaching and Learning Excellence, an all-campus virtual center aimed at helping you enrich your courses and your teaching by providing a crossroads among the many campus and college organizations and services available at UW-Madison).
There are also innumerable academic, cultural, political, recreational, service, and social clubs and organizations on campus in which students may participate. The UW Dean of Students Office has a listing of all registered student organizations. For example, Hoofers is a group of seven clubs: skiing, sailing, hang gliding, scuba, horseback riding, mountaineering, and outing (canoe, kayak, camp, bike), which plan outdoor programs and outings. McArdle students have intramural sports teams in basketball, softball, and soccer.
